The road ahead for 2025

We would like to welcome all of you back in the New Year and we hope that you had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Now that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is out, we have to say that there is quite a difference from the beta version we had access to, to the production version. Our airports which all worked fine in the beta version, now seem to have some issues; even the ones we have updated especially for Flight Simulator 2024! Trees are the biggest issue as Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is generating trees in places where there should not be any especially along runways and taxiways!

We have added a new Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Road Map page to our website that will show the status of all our Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 airports. On this new road map, you will see which airports have been updated, the date of the last update and it’s compatibility status with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. We used to have a Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Road Map on our website for this purpose, but that caused more confusion than it was worth! We will be creating a new road map for our Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 airports as soon as we start with the conversion from Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and that will be on a separate page on our website.

Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, it is important to know that the fact that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 airports are compatible with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, does not mean that it will stay this way for ever. We strongly believe that this is just a temporary measure and that Microsoft will be removing this compatibility in the future. It will therefore be highly advisable that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 airports and aircraft be purchased before this compatibility is removed.

We have already started this process by updating our Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 airports to make this transition easier for us and we will continue to do so until all our airports are converted to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. After these updates are done, we will need to say goodbye to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and concentrate on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 only. Designing airports for two different flight simulators just does not work. We have tried that before…

The way we will convert our airports is to start with the major airports first and then proceed from there. We will be offering upgrade discounts as we cannot see why anyone need to repurchase our airports at full price again. We have had no word from Microsoft if they are going to do the same on their side as well, but we hope that they do.

Three airports in our collection cannot be converted for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 as they have been designed a long time ago and they are now showing their age. These airports  are FABL Bloemfontein Intl, FASS Sishen and FATP New Tempe. In order to make them work for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, a full redesign will be needed. We will therefore not be converting them right away.

If there are any questions then please address them to us and we will do our best to answer them!
