It is finally here! The complete re-make of Cape Town International has been released for Flight Simulator X and Prepar3D v4! We are working on the X-Plane 11 version which will be ready very soon!
This airport has been screaming for a complete makeover for a very long time; not to mention that it took us more than six months to complete the remake! This time, we spared no detail and Cape Town is now finally in line with all our other products. The airport textures are crisp and detailed. No blurry textures as you get closer to the buildings as with other developer’s products. With our airport, you can get your nose right up to the wall and still see the detail!
We have also spent a lot of time to get the aprons as true to life as it is possible to make. You will see detail such as speed signs, traffic signs, fuel ports, clearly marked parking bays and so on. The list is too long to mention.
One of the questions we got during development was how much frame rate all these changes will cost. This is a very valid question, but difficult to answer since frame rate depends greatly on the user’s hardware and the Flight Sim being run. It is no secret; Flight Simulator X is old, and it cannot handle all the detail that we want to put into our airports anymore, but we have managed to design an airport that will run quite well on just about any hardware configuration. For Flight Simulator X, we managed to get well over 40 frames during night flying with all the light effects on and well over 50 during the day. The Prepar3D version did far better with frame rates well over 50 in all scenarios! We are confident that you will get much better frame rates with this new version than with the older V4 airport; despite the much-enhanced detail even with highly detailed pay ware aircraft.
The X-Plane 11 version is unfortunately not ready yet. We hope to have the X-Plane 11 version ready very-very soon! Please watch this space for details!
